Named for the rich brown pigment derived from the ink sac of cuttlefish, sepia is an intriguing dark, neutral tone. The sepia tone of the heavy yarn I chose for this pattern is in the taupe family, tending toward dark grey with cream heathering. Two sets of contrasting stripes in salmon, olive green, and coral provide contrasting color and texture in the 44" circumference of the vest's lower half. The back is 24" long, while the front panels measure 21" from shoulder to bottom, thanks to angled corners on the front facings which add 2" to the circumference of the vest at the bottom. The armholes are generously sized at 26" in diameter, with 15" from the bottom of the armhole to the ribbed border below. The width of the back panel is 22" and each front panel measure 11" across. The densely-woven wool used for this piece is reminiscent of heavy Scandinavian sweaters (more famous for insulating warmth than cozy softness). No front closure, but can be worn, as I show it here, with a shawl pin or clip (not included).
